Solomon's Fables

Author's note: You can find out more about the project at the about page. Or dive right in with the fables. But in brief, I started this project to teach my children the wisdom of Proverbs in a way they would remember. I hope you find it useful too.

Solomon was a funny little fellow. He was the Lady's servant, and yet he walked like a king. They called him the man with the honeycomb tongue. But even when he smiled there was sadness in his eyes, like his memories hurt. He always had a clever solution to every problem. Like when Molly and Kate fought over who owned Teddy and he offered to cut it in half so they could each have half and when Kate burst into tears and said Molly could have it Solomon said Teddy was clearly hers because she was the one who was willing to let him go so he wouldn't be hurt.

And the stories... Oh the stories. A child would come to Solomon and ask him a question, and he'd tell the most wonderful stories that always happened to answer. I still don't know how he always had the right story to tell, but he did. I used to sit at the bottom of that step and listen to those stories over and over again. One day I started to write them down so I wouldn't forget, which led to the book you're holding in your hand right now. They might not be exactly as Solomon said them, but I hope they're close enough to what he meant.
